This Lahontan family retreat was designed by SANDBOX for a sloping site with spectacular views of Northstar and the Sierra Crest. The home features 4,200 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, plus an office & rec/media room, spread across three levels, as the architecture steps with the natural slope of the land. The primary views occur off of the rear of the home, and thus SANDBOX incorporated ample glass, deck and terrace areas into the design. While Alpine in form and ‘Lahontan-appropriate’ in color and materials, SANDBOX incorporated a hint of modern flair into the exterior of the home, with a fresher approach to the siding, fenestration and trim, along with subtle accents such as the steel panels. The hint of contemporary flair also carries into the interior, as can be felt in the Kitchen (above). Photo by Tom Zikas.
The Master Suite is split-off into its own wing, with a glass enclosed bridgeway leading from the main body of the home to get there. The Master gets its own deck and views of the Sierra Crest. Photo by Tom Zikas.
The Master Bath gets great natural light and views, as well. Photo by Tom Zikas.
A fun Rec/Media Room complete with a bar, resides on the lower level, along with several guest bedrooms and a terrace, complete with a hot tub and firepit. Photo by Tom Zikas.
