Completed in 2013, this 3,250 square foot ‘traditional Tahoe’ home by SANDBOX sits on the Martis Camp Putting Park. Featuring 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths, the home packs a lot of function into an efficient footprint, and is the perfect vacation getaway for a family and their friends. Photo by Michelle Wilson (above) shows the dramatic vaulted and sun-drenched Great Room, which features a large concrete and barnwood fireplace, cozy game nook, and two sets of sliding glass doors which spill out onto terraces on both sides.
The galley-style Kitchen shown above, while modest in size, is efficient and highly functional, with a striking palette of concrete counters, painted black cabinets and stainless appliances. Photo by Michelle Wilson.
The Dining Room is open to both the Kitchen and Great Room, yet has its own sense of space for formal meals. It features a nice custom built-in hutch cabinet for serving & storage, and a great view of the Martis Camp Putting Park. Photo of Dining Area (above) by Michelle Wilson.
Dispelling the notion that mountains cabin are inherently dark, SANDBOX designed this home with abundant window glazing throughout, washing every space in sunlight, as is evident in the one of the master bedrooms shown above left. Further enhancing this ‘visual lightness’, all of the materials in the home were selected by interior designer Palmer Weiss from a very refined and soothing palette, as can be seen in one of the master bath suites above right.
