SANDBOX was selected to participate in a competition to design the ultimate Martis Camp cottage for a special site adjacent to the golf practice facility and first tee box. The 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath, 3,250 square foot home by SANDBOX was the result of many hours of brainstorming design concepts to derive something truly special. A fantastic open floor plan was created, with multiple master suites, expansive kitchen, dining and great room areas with large stone fireplaces, vaulted timber ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and folding glass doors, a unique wine room, and a bonus room above the oversized 2-car garage with golf cart parking. In addition, the competition program called for an emphasis on outdoor living. As such, SANDBOX designed a covered dining terrace with fireplace and outdoor ‘kitchen’, a sun terrace for lounging, a social fireside terrace off of the Great Room with a firepit, and a semi-private master terrace. A nearby spa ‘garden’ hosts a hot tub tucked amongst a cluster of large boulders, accessible from the entire house. Balconies also serve the upper level spaces.
