SANDBOX designed this 2,900 square foot Martis Camp home to be reminiscent of a New England summer camp retreat for clients who had spent significant time in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. Cabin/cottage-like in its massing, the home, built by Mark Tanner Construction, is perched on the top of a small hill, with expansive windows, deck and terrace areas, taking in fantastic views of the pond & putting course below, with Lookout Mountain beyond. Photo by Vance Fox of Front Elevation (above).
Inside, the New England flavor is immediately evident as your enter the home into the vaulted Great Room/Kitchen/Dining space (above), with painted woodwork and cabinetry. Expansive windows, coupled with the whitewashed finishes, results in a home that is very light, bright and spacious feeling throughout. Photo by Vance Fox.
Abundant use of built-in custom cabinetry, such as the drawers under the window seat in the Master Bedroom (above), helped SANDBOX capture 5 bedrooms & 5 baths in 2,900 square feet – a great deal of program in a relatively modest footprint! Photo by Vance Fox.
SANDBOX created a fun Kids’ Bunk Room, with custom built-in bunks by Mark Tanner Construction and a TV/game lounge (above). Photo by Vance Fox.
Fun elements, such as the screened Summer Sleeping Porch, further tie the Jackman Family back to their times in the Adirondacks. Photo by Vance Fox (above) showing the Sleeping Porch.

In addition to the Dining Area with its large dining table, SANDBOX created the Breakfast Nook (above left), with a small table and built-in banquette for more casual eating and a place to play games or do homework. A collection of old sleds from family sledding days adorns the stair (above right) to the upper level. Photos by Vance Fox.
The baths also capture an East Coast feel with painted finishes & tilework. The main level guest bath (above) has a door leading directly to the sunken spa on the deck, with an on-level shower and fully-tiled floor to deal with wet soakers! Photo by Vance Fox.
