This SANDBOX-designed 3,250 square foot mountain home, completed in Summer of 2013, sits on a great lot on the Martis Camp Putting Park and stream. With abundant glass and extensive terraces, with features such as multiple firepits and a spa, the home is designed to have a strong indoor-outdoor connection and capture abundant light and views. Twilight photo by Vance Fox of the Rear Elevation as seen from the Putting Park.
Traditional in style, with its steep alpine roof pitches and reclaimed barnwood exterior siding, the home is designed to be timeless. Lots of glass, coupled with an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings, make the home feel much larger than its square footage would indicate. Photo (above) by Vance Fox showing the Great Room, with its vaulted ceilings and lift & slide pocketing glass doors that completely open-up and disappear into the wall, allowing for people to spill back and forth between the inside of the home and the terraces on both sides.
Inside the home, the finishes are more refined and have a visual lightness to them, as can be seen above in the Kitchen. With a Martis Camp limit on square footage of 3,250 s.f., SANDBOX focused on maximizing efficiency to meet the clients’ goals within the Martis Camp parameters. Photo (above) by Vance Fox.
Through thoughtful design, SANDBOX ensures every space in the home is a nice space to be in, including hallways. Photo above by Vance Fox shows the hallway leading to the Guest Master, with floor-to-ceiling glass on both sides, capturing views of nature and making for a pleasurable journey from one space to the next.
Both the Master and Guest Master have sitting areas complete with fireplaces and large windows to the Putting Park. Vance Fox photo (above left) showing the Guest Master fireplace. For the kids, there is the large Bunk Room with 6 custom sleeping berths, abundant built-ins for storage and an adjacent bath, with separate function areas for privacy & simultaneous multi-child use. Photo by Vance (above right) shows the Bunk Bath with its custom concrete trough sink and fun tile detail.
The home sits on a slightly elevated perch, giving it some presence upon approach. Big stone buttresses set-off the Great Room from the rest of the home as the main space to gather. Photo (above) by Vance Fox showing the Front Elevation at sunset.
The adult baths are designed to be soothing and spa-like, with calming colors and tile. Photo above by Vance Fox showing one of the adult baths.
Even the least used guest room has a strong connection to the outdoors with a balcony overlooking the Putting Park and stream. Photo by Vance Fox.
Virtually every space in the house gets a Putting Park view, including the Dining Area above (photo by Vance Fox), which also is open to the Great Room & Kitchen areas.
