Designed to be the quintessential Martis Camp family ‘cabin’, this SANDBOX-designed 2,700 square getaway sets a new benchmark. Coupled with its fantastic site on the putting course and a rambling stream running across the rear of the property, this is the ultimate place to escape for the weekend! The Lurie Residence is not really a 'cabin' at all in the typical sense of the word, with three full master suites, an oversized 2-car garage with golf cart parking, open kitchen-dining-great room floor plan, a play loft, and all of the fun features one would see in a much larger estate home, such as a sunken outdoor hot tub, firepit, large glass window/door walls, vaulted timber ceilings, multiple stone fireplaces, and ample outdoor living area. Photo (above) by Ethan Rohloff shows the vaulted great room, with its large fireplace, several areas to sit, play games etc, and the sliding glass doors accessing the terrace areas.
Creating a strong connection to the outdoors and capturing light and views is paramount for every SANDBOX-designed home. SANDBOX strives to give even secondary spaces of the home quality views and abundant light. Photos by Ethan Rohloff show the master bath with two large windows by the free-standing soaking tub, bringing in natural light and views (above left); the view from the outdoor sitting terrace through the windows to the master (above middle); and (above right), one of the many oversized windows throughout the home as seen from below, with the custom truss detailing hanging above it.
Vaulted ceilings and overscaled windows in virtually every room throughout the home help to make the spaces feel much larger than the relatively modest square footage would indicate. The use of steel, concrete and a slightly modern twist to some of the details of the home, both inside and out, help to make the home feel 'fresh' and not 'typical Tahoe.' Photos (above) by Ethan Rohloff showing some of the details and contemporary flair.
