The Thompson Family Estate, as designed by SANDBOX, will be a fabulous residential enclave consisting of six architecturally integrated structures sitting on two sunny lakefront acres. The 4,500 square foot Main House and detached 1,000 square foot Boat House, complete with caretaker’s quarters, will be the first structures to be built beginning in the Fall of 2008. Sitting on the edge of Lake Tahoe, nestled amongst towering Cedar and Pine trees, the home will be magnificent! As the owners and their guests wind their way down the meandering private driveway on approach to the Main House complex, the panoramic views of Lake Tahoe beyond will be stunning. The complex, while large in size, will blend seamlessly with the environment thanks to the use of rustic, indigenous materials, such as bark-on log posts, Cedar and native granite. In September of 2008, the original structures were demolished (above) in anticipation of new development.
Much had to be done in the way of site work to establish the location and access for the new lakefront residence, including building a new road and driveway with boulder retaining walls stepping down the hillside (above).
The foundations for the Main House and Boat House (above) were complete by Fall of 2008. After a work hiatus over the snowy Winter months, framing was ready to begin again in Summer of 2009.
